Barcelona, Spain – October 08, 2025 – Anyverse, a leader in synthetic data for in-cabin monitoring, has started research with Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) to explore how synthetic data can strengthen the assessment of in-cabin monitoring systems.
The research will investigate a high-fidelity, parameterized synthetic data testing framework designed to efficiently and comprehensively evaluate Driver State Monitoring, Occupant Monitoring, and Child Presence Detection systems, ultimately supporting the development of safer vehicles.
This framework is intended to establish a consistent benchmark for in-cabin system assessment, defining clear criteria for performance evaluation. Anyverse’s synthetic data includes biomechanical human modeling, physics-based RGB, IR, and Radar simulation, full vehicle coverage, and extensive scene variability. Each scenario (current and future) is designed to ensure in-cabin systems are assessed under a wide range of standardized and repeatable conditions.
By harmonizing data, protocols, and processes, the research aims to streamline the in-cabin evaluation process, accelerate market readiness, and enable automakers to deliver safer vehicles reliably. This approach helps OEMs, suppliers, and integrators better understand expectations, design for robustness, and deliver safer experiences for vehicle occupants.
“Euro NCAP’s mission is to assess safety systems against rigorous criteria; our role is to support that mission with tools that extend coverage. Synthetic data lets us probe conditions that are difficult to stage physically, so Euro NCAP can study the full picture of in-cabin system behavior with greater repeatability and control. We’re proud to contribute our technology and know-how to this research effort.”
Victor Gonzalez, CEO of Anyverse.
“Euro NCAP introduced the first-ever Driver State Monitoring assessment in 2023 to encourage the widespread adoption of technologies that reduce crashes caused by driver distraction and impairment. As driver monitoring systems become mandatory in all new cars from 2026, Euro NCAP’s Driver and Occupant Monitoring assessment must evolve to measure both detection accuracy and population coverage in order to maximize societal benefit. Achieving this requires a multi-modal approach that combines physical and virtual testing. That’s why we are pleased to have Anyverse support our working groups to explore how high-fidelity synthetic data can deliver this goal. ”
Adriano Palao, Technical Manager of Euro NCAP.
